    Good morning, orchestra families! Here are some weekly updates from the orchestra department. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, thank you! FAIR SHARE AND OBLIGATIONS- Student who have still not paid their $60 Fair Share for the 2022-2023 school year can make payments here: https://www.drphillipsorchestras.com/pay-fair-share The fee for this year has been added to students' obligations, so students will need to email Mrs. Allen proof of payment (receipt) OR make payment to Ms. Blair in the media center in order to remove it from their obligations account. STATE SOLO & ENSEMBLE- State S&E is this Saturday, April 1st, at Strawberry Crest High School in Brandon, FL. The schedule of performances is attached, as well as a checklist of suggested tips for success! DISTRICT SOLO & ENSEMBLE- For those who did not participate in the first district Solo & Ensemble in February, the second one will also take place this Saturday, April 1st, at Southwest Middle School. SOUTHWEST MIDDLE SCHOOL FINE ARTS FESTIVAL- Members of the Premiere Orchestra will once again be supporting our arts colleagues and future Panthers at SWMS's annual Fine Arts Festival! Warm-up is at 7:30pm in the orchestra room, and performance is at 7:40pm. Come out to see some fantastic performances from the arts departments in the Southwest Learning Community and support the arts in YOUR community! BASS DAY- Bass students who are interested in improving their playing ability in ONE DAY, meeting new bassist and making new friends, should check out the 2nd annual Bass Day Workshop and Concert on Saturday, April 29th!     Good afternoon, orchestra families! First and foremost, I hope you all had a FANTASTIC, RESTFUL spring break! We are back fully into the 4th 9 weeks, and ready to finish the 2022-2023 school year strong! We have several events coming up in the final quarter, so please read on and mark your calendars! CONGRATULATIONS!!!- I am ECSTATIC to announce that ALL FOUR ORCHESTRA ENSEMBLES earned a SUPERIOR RATING at District Music Performance Assessment! This is truly a testament to the hard work, dedication, talent, and grit of every student in our orchestra program, and I could not be prouder of what they have accomplished. We truly are "Never Less Than The Best"!!! STATE SOLO & ENSEMBLE- The State Solo & Ensemble schedule is attached. I am aware that not all schedule requests could be accommodated in this final schedule. If you have a concern with your time, please reach out to me ASAP! 2ND DISTRICT SOLO & ENSEMBLE- For students who have signed up to participate in the 2nd district Solo & Ensemble event, the schedule is attached. Titles are due TOMORROW for those who have still not made a selection! BROOKDALE RECITAL- We still have one more Brookdale Assisted Living Facility recital for students who would like to earn community service through performing in the community! STATE MUSIC PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT- Premiere Orchestra will be traveling to Blake High School in Tampa, FL, on Monday, April 24th to perform at State Music Performance Assessment! SPRING CONCERT- Our final concert of the year will take place on Tuesday, May 2nd, at 7pm in our Performing Arts Center! We hope to see you there to not only enjoy the final performance from our ensembles this year, but to also bid a fond farewell to our seniors! CELLOBRATION- Calling all cello students!     Good afternoon, orchestra families! We are exactly ONE WEEK away from our Pre-MPA concert on Thursday, February 23rd, at 7pm! We hope that you and your family will join us for a night of enjoyable music as our students work to prepare for their Music Performance Assessment performances. Please read on to learn about other important dates coming up! Attached is a MUSIC PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT INFORMATION sheet. Please read it and let me know if you have any questions! Hard copies will be made available at our concert next week as well. There is also a copy of the itinerary included. MUSIC PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT will be Tuesday, March 7th for Sinfonia Orchestra (5th period), and Wednesday, March 8th for Philharmonia (2nd period), Chamber (4th period), and Premiere (3rd period). More information can be found in the attached information sheet. ASTA Student Day- The American String Teachers Association will be having their national conference in Orlando this year, and on Saturday, March 18th, they will be hosting their annual "Student Day" event! "Be the Future: An ASTA Leadership Experience". You are developing skills in performance, teaching, and leadership in a variety of ways through your participation in orchestra and strings. There are so many incredible options that involve your string instrument for your future – from teaching in the classroom, performing on national stages, working in film, and even providing once-in-a-lifetime experiences for youth and adults! In these sessions, you will explore leadership strategies to implement in your life today, learn more about string careers, engage with current music majors and music professors, and immerse in music making.     Good afternoon, orchestra families! I hope this email finds you and your family well as we approach the midpoint of the third quarter! We have some important dates coming up, and also some accolades to share from the orchestra department! Please read on to stay informed, and let me know if you have any questions :) Congratulations to students who participated in Solo & Ensemble! This past Saturday, some of our students participated in District Solo & Ensemble at Timber Creek High School; please congratulate the following students who received a Superior or Superior with Distinction rating!Nicholas Shikano, Superior with Distinction Issel Arismendi, Superior Olivia Starkey, Superior Haven McClean, Superior William McNarney, Superior Jasmine Lewis, Superior Dora Chen, Superior with Distinction Kerline Derismond, Superior Sophia Anderson, Superior with Distinction Carson Nordmann, Superior Dublin Steding, Superior Sofia Brandt & Jayden Manganelli, Superior Kerline Derismond & Merline Hercule, Superior Matias Juarez, Kyle Ramdhanie, & Robinson Rosario, Superior PRE-MPA CONCERT THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 23RD Our third concert of the season will be on Thursday, February 23rd at 7pm in our beautiful Performing Arts Center on south campus! We highly encourage all family members, friends, and community members to come out at support the arts by attending our concert! This concert is not only free and open to the public, but an opportunity to watch your students learn and progress as they prepare for District Music Performance Assessment. DISTRICT MUSIC PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT Speaking of Music Performance Assessment (MPA), we have our performance dates! Sinfonia (5th period) and Philharmonia (2nd period) will be attending on Tuesday, March 7th between 1pm and 5pm. Chamber (4th period) and Premiere (3rd period) will be performing on Wednesday, March 8th between 1pm and 5pm. MPA will be at East River High School this year. A more detailed itinerary will be forthcoming as we get closer to the date! Would you like to see the performances? We need chaperones!
